Captain Henry Whitener, a Revolutionary war veteran like his brothers Daniel and Abram built the house c. 1779, which is pictured on the cover of Anne W. McAllister's Volume I book. The photograph was courtesy of Sidney Halma, Director and the Catawba County Historical Society, Newton, North Carolina. The house,  known as the Rock House  is located in Hickory, NC and currently owned by Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Shuford, II.

Anne Williams McAllister feels as though she knows her ancestors on a personal basis through her research and writing about them. A few contributors to this web site have quoted from her books which are rich with historical facts about the Weidner (Whitener) family and its descendants.  In that respect, Anne, in Volume I of her book, wrote extensively about Zachariah Bullock Stacy, who married Catherine Whitener in the early 19th century, and his descendants. Anne loves to talk about and communicate about her family heritage and quickly volunteered to share with me, more Stacy material and  documents from state archives than I could have gathered in a single year of research. Posted on this page are some of those documents which Anne admits sent shivers down her spine at the experience of holding an original document that an ancestor had held at an earlier time in history. Anne has only a few volumes of her genealogical books left for sale, so, should you have a desire to get a copy for your personal library, I would not hesitate to contact her. Her email address is awmcallister@charter.net . Oliver Hicks Stacey provided some Stacy genealogical information to Anne, which she published in her book, 'Through Four Generations', Volume I,  and he is prominently mentioned in her book as a source provider.
