State of North Carolina

Burke County                   Personally appeared before me Th. P. Hughes, a Justice of the Peace in said County.  Aaron Stacy who being duly sworn according to law deposeth and saith that by reason of old age and the consequent loss of memory he can not swear positively to the precise thought of his service as a Revolutionary Soldier, but according to the best of his recollection he served not less than the periods mentioned below and in the following grades.  That in the year 1778 he served as a common soldier on tour of three months. In the year 1781 served two months tours as a common soldier. In these two tours of service he volunteered for the term of three months but his officer made a proposition that if any of the soldiers would furnish his own horse and gun that the tour shortly expired at the expiration of two months and that he excepted of the terms and was discharged at 2 months. In 1782 served as a common soldier a third written term, making his whole term of actual service ten month although he was drafted and volunteered for four three months tours under the circumstances referred to above sworn to me this 21st day of June 1833.
